Tundish is a device used for molten steel transition between ladle and mold. Its main tasks are:

With the development of continuous casting technology, the requirements for refractory materials are becoming more and more stringent. The refractory materials in tundish should generally have the following conditions:
(1)resistance to the corrosion of molten steel and slag;
(2) Good thermal shock stability;
(3) low thermal conductivity and small thermal expansion;
(4) Less pollution to molten steel;
(5) it is convenient for masonry and disassembly.
Magnesium coating has been widely used in Tundish Working Lining because of its superior performance. There are two construction methods: manual coating and mechanical spraying. Magnesium coating has the following advantages because of its low price:
1. It is easy to construct and disassemble, does not crack during rapid baking and has good peeling resistance;
2. Good corrosion resistance of molten steel and slag. Generally, molten steel and magnesium working lining do not have chemical reaction, and the corrosion of molten steel to magnesium materials is mainly simple dissolution;
3. It does not pollute the molten steel, which is conducive to improving the purity of molten steel. The pollution of refractory to the purity of molten steel mainly has two aspects: A. mechanical erosion: high temperature molten steel makes the refractory eroded into the molten steel due to softening. B. elements dissolved in molten steel react with oxides in refractories to form oxides; And form composite inclusions with other inclusions. As the magnesium material is alkaline, it will not have reduction reaction with Al, Mn and other elements in molten steel, so as to ensure the purity of molten steel.
